Black & White Drawing - Meloncholia II by Samridh Mukhiya

    $4,400.00

Black & White Artwork - Drawing Samridh Mukhiya Meloncholia II - 2017 Pen and ink on paper 24 X 36 inches $4,400 Awarded “Third place for Adult Original artwork” at 2020 Texas Mental Health Awareness Creative Arts Contest April 23, 2020 -Artist's interpretation- This is the second one in the series of Melancholia. It is a subjective portrait. The hair as waves represent the state of the mind, relentless, vacillating and boundless like the sea. The shell of the individual is withering away exposing the inner self. There sits atop the person's head; a well in the sea, a motif I use metaphorically and periodically to represent the means to an end. Here, the well is the only element casting light inside. Within, the person is drowning as he is entangled in his own sea of thoughts and perception, a habit we all tend to fall victim to. The world inside him is also crumbling slowly, the stable elements he was accustomed to rely on are sinking. But that is not the first time the person inside has drowned. As seen on the bottom where the heart resides are parts of him that have sunk on impaled sticks, representation of the hurt endured, the wounds that have had lasting effects, moments of pain that have remained, with every event and moment that has chipped away the mind. This person dies a little every time. There will come a moment, when there will be no bits and pieces left to sink. An emptiness that can only witness the fragmented corpses of oneself, that once was. In this cosmic ocean of existence, some of us drown, maybe the current is too strong, maybe it's too cold or maybe we've been swimming for way too long and are tired from helping others or offering all that we have. For our loved ones who struggle with mental health what would you do to help? Very much like the one life we have, we have only one breath left when we drown and sometimes help can come a little too late. How deep? More than a breath."

This piece by Samridh Mukhiya was created to raise awareness about the importance of mental health From the Series, 'Meloncholia'

Introspective Art Contest Best in Show by Samridh Mukhiya Things I am grateful for 2018 Pen and ink on paper 30X40 $3475

Samridh Mukhiya Artist Statement "This piece was made during a time in my life when I was struggling to find reasons and inspiration to go on. I wanted to create a piece that would act as a personal mantra with a positive meaning. A constant reminder of the things I am grateful for. The head represents an individual's mind in disarray. It's divided and falling apart. What holds it together are these hands reaching out to provide support in varying fashion. The hands are different in size and in the manner in which they are holding the person together. This represents the nature of care and presence, a representation of the people and elements in our life that act as the pillar of support. Some hands are large indicating the effect or the presence, nearness or time. Some hands are dirty representing how even with their own personal struggle they are trying their best to be there. Some hands are tiny and are reaching out from far away representing people who are there for us regardless of the physical distance and their inability to be there for you all the time. There is also a hand that is holding withered flowers, symbolizing people who have been there for you with the best intention from the very beginning, They have been holding on for so long the flowers have withered away. Yet, they're still holding on."

"The Things I Am Grateful For" is created within the series, 'Mantra'

    $3,600.00

Abstract textural painting by Lu Pearl “Mother Earth” is a 40” x 30” sculptural painting created with sculptural paste, acrylics and copper leaf in May of 2020

The work is available for $3,600 or $360 x 10 months, no interest with our partner Art Money

Artists' Statement: Lu Pearl - Award Winning Artist, recognized in the US and UK

While considering a theme for an art piece depicting introspection my initial thoughts were to turn inward to observe my own mental and emotional processes. During the recent times of uncertainty that we have all been going through I imagine that each and everyone of us has been taking stock and asking ourselves many internal questions. It’s been a time of solitude and a time of seeking.

During this contemplation my mind wandered momentarily to a time when I was in California driving through the areas of Sonoma county that had been ravaged by wildfires. It was a heartbreaking sight to absorb. Acres of burnt out forest holding on to the earth, weakened and charred. I stopped my car to look around, it was deadly silent, once where there would have been wildlife scurrying around there was nothing but a lull. As I stood there I began to look closer, amidst all the devastation I could see bright green shoots peeking out from cracks in tree trunks, pushing up and poking through the crispy debris on the ground, buoyant and dancing in the sunlight. My sadness turned into delight at this beautiful sight of renewal, rebirth and resilience. I was mesmerized by the glory of nature and it’s ability to rebuild and start again.

It occurred to me that it’s how we show up in this world that matters. It’s how we continue to create and endeavor to be the best version of ourselves through the good times and the bad times.

“Mother Earth” is about the beauty of this planet that we all reside on. It’s about how we as humanity are all a part of its glory and maybe all that we need to do is remember our own strength, our own resilience, our own brightness and our own ability as a species to rebuild and regrow.

Fear should have no place in this world, we are all here as one and we are greater and more abundant than we allow ourselves to feel or believe.

Original Oil Painting of Artist Victoria Moore - This 20X16 jellyfish on canvas framed is one of the rare originals by this artist, available in the series Undulations.jellyfish painting by Victoria Moore
    A note from the artist:
    Glistening in the Darkness
When I was invited to exhibit as the only woman in a group show in Florida titled "The Big Fish", I knew I had better show up strong when I would be hanging with world renown maritime and big game fish painter Mr. Guy Harvey, underwater WWI plane wrecks master Randal Scott and contemporary island life painter Dan Mackin.

It was my mermaids, mermen, with a few underwater dolphin and whale paintings that attracted the invitation for me to swim with these big fish so I wanted to bring a fresh subject, perspective and complexity to the party.
The Jellyfish series has intrigued me with the endless lighting options effecting the diversified translucent complexities of species structures. With such unearthly design and undulating movement patterns they provided a unique creative challenge. They were great fun in the studio so I expect them to show up in more underwater imagery.
